Residents are taking to the streets of southwest Michigan in kayaks and jet skis.
When you have to be somewhere and flood waters rise, you tend to get creative. The Kalamazoo River runs through Kalamazoo and is in record flood stage at over eleven feet. That broke the record set back in 1947 of ten-point-nine-feet. As a result, roads are flooded and impassable by car, making kayak and jet skis the appropriate mode of transportation.
Some of those jet skiiers were thrill seekers and drove “above” water covered highways. One video of the creative mode of transportation has gotten thousands of views.
The water is expected to recede throughout the day today.
