Weed Killer Found In Tested Beers And Wines

A new study shows that a popular weed killer is deeply penetrating our everyday life.

Glyphosate, found in the weed killer Roundup, is a probable human carcinogen and 19 out of 20 brands tested had low levels of the chemical in them. Advocacy group U.S. PIRG notes the tests showed levels that weren’t dangerous, but expressed concern given the health risks.

“USA Today” reached out to companies whose products were tested and they acknowledge that “trace amounts, are beyond their control. An organic winery, which also had glyphosate in its product says the chemical is now showing up in rainwater due to wide use.

Popular brands that contain the chemical include Coors Light, Miller Lite, Budweiser, Corona, Heineken, Guinness, Stella Artois and Samuel Adams.
