E.coli Outbreak Source Confirmed: Ground Beef

The Centers for Disease Control says ground beef is to blame for the E.coli outbreak that sickened more than 100 people in six states. Illnesses have been reported in Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio. Virginia and Indiana. At least 17 people have been hospitalized.

It’s not all good news, however. While the source has been identified, no single supplier, distributor or brand has been identified as the source of the outbreak. With that in mind, the CDC says to avoid E.coli, people should cook ground beef to an internal temperature of 160 degrees, keep uncooked foods away from raw meat and always wash your hands.
