This House Is Decorated With 3,000 Pumpkins Every Halloween

Every year around Halloween time, this family puts 3,000 pumpkins out on display in front of their home. Yup, you read that right...3,000 pumpkins! And they chose that number for a special reason.

Local pharmacist and former mayor of this small town, Ric Griffith, puts out one carved jack-o-lantern for every Kenova resident. How thoughtful and cool is that! Of course, has does not do this single-handedly, he gets a lot of help from his family and community members who are very proud of what has become quite the tourist attraction over time! Griffith said “It’s become a tradition for many people in our immediate area, and it feels good to keep that going.” This is definitely something I'd like to go see!

Over 30,000 people stop by to gaze at and admire the incredible display. All of the jack-o-lanterns are carved into animals, cartoon characters, faces of celebrities, and many other creative designs and patterns.

In order to fit all of the 3,000 pumpkins, Griffith and his team of helpers scatter them all over the home's front lawn, front porch, and even on the roof as well!

Grittith started this tradition with a handful of five pumpkins, and now 21 years later, it's so much bigger and better! It truly gives people that perfect Halloween experience.

President of the Cabell-Huntington Convention and Visitors Bureau, Tyson Compton, said “Locals take great pride in it, and then there are people from around the country who plan fall trips and include it on the route just so they can see it. It’s really something.”
