Tumbleweeds Trap Drivers On Highway

Several people in Washington have an interesting story to tell about their New Year's Eve.

A Washington State Patrol trooper tweeted that several cars got trapped on a highway because of tumbleweeds Tuesday night. Trooper Chris Thorson says the tumbleweeds were piled as high as 20-to-30 feet in some places, and he gave it the hashtag tumblegeddon. Cars were buried in them for up to 10 hours.

The highway had to be closed for around ten hours before it was reopened yesterday morning. They even found one abandoned car trapped in the tumbleweeds at daylight. The state used snowplows to clear the roads.
