Cancer Patient Designs Monster Jam Toy Truck, Surprised With Real Version

A young cancer patient has his artwork featured on a Monster Jam toy truck and then gets surprised with a real full-sized version. St Jude cancer patient and artist, Calvin had his “Emoji Strong” artwork featured on a limited edition Monster Jam toy truck. Sales of the toy truck helped to raise money for St Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Then last week, just before the 21st Monster Jam World Finals in Orlando, Calvin got the surprise of his life when his design was featured on a full-size Monster Jam truck. Monster Jam spokesperson Bari Musawwir surprised Calvin and his mom Tiffany live on ‘Fox and Friends’ with the Monster Jam truck featuring Calvin’s artwork. A graphic designer himself, Mussawwir complimented Calvin for his “epic artwork.”

The 13-year-old artist says the design represents the different emotions he experienced while undergoing more than 18 months of "grueling" chemo and radiation treatments in his fight against cancer. "I started drawing four years ago,” Calvin explains. “These are the emojis that I designed for the emotions that I feel during cancer." When asked how he felt about his artwork being featured at the Monster Jam World Finals, the artist says, “Makes me feel awesome."
