Former NASCAR Drivers Helps To Rescue Donkeys Trapped On CA Island

(Lake McClure, CA) -- A former NASCAR driver is being credited for spearheading the rescue of two donkeys stranded on an island on a California lake. Kenny Shepherd was among a group of volunteers that have been making sure the pair of donkeys were fed as they were stranded. They were cut off from the mainland after water levels at the lake rose, leaving them trapped on the island. Shepherd is being credited with paying for much of the rescue that took three weeks to plan, and involved building a structure on the island that could corral the donkeys onto a rescue barge.
