International Travel On The Rise In 2023

The pandemic derailed travel plans for a lot of people in the last few years, but not anymore. People are ready to see the world this year, even if it costs more to do so, according to a new report from AAA. Their booking data shows people are making up for lost time and making reservations.

AAA’s latest research finds:

  • International travel is up more than 200% than in 2022.
  • The biggest bump is in hotel bookings, which are up over 300% compared to last year.
  • And all that demand is driving up airfares, with ticket prices for international destinations up more than 30% compared to 2022.
  • So where is everyone going? Europe and Canada top the list for most popular international destinations. London is the number one destination, with bookings up almost 350% over last year.
  • Rome, Paris, Dublin and Barcelona are also popular with American tourists, while Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary are the hot spots in Canada.
  • Paula Twidale, Senior Vice President of Travel at AAA says there are deals out there and the key to getting them is “giving yourself plenty of time to plan ahead.”
