Painting Bought For $4 At Thrift Store Sells At Auction For Nearly $200k

You never know what you’ll find at a thrift store. A woman bought a lovely painting at the Savers thrift store in New Hampshire for $4 and it’s now been sold at auction for $191-thousand! It turns out that the work was by N.C. Wyeth and was considered lost. The piece was one of four created by the Pennsylvania-based artist for a 1939 edition of Helen Hunt Jackson's 1884 book “Ramona.” The woman who bought the painting posted a pic to Facebook and was told to contact curators at the Brandywine Museum in Chadds Ford, Pa. They confirmed the work was indeed Wyeth's.
