What a way to start a Friday. The McDonald’s app and payment systems in a few countries are experiencing an outage. Dowdetector shows Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Sweden, and the United Kingdom are some of the countries affected. There appears to be spotty issues in the U.S. but that hasn’t been confirmed. The company says in a statement “We are aware of a technology outage, which impacted our restaurants; the issue is now being resolved,” and adds “We thank customers for their patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Notably, the issue is not related to a cybersecurity event.” McDonald’s hasn’t given any details on the outage or the locations affected.
