James Broccia is a young boy who suffers from Asperger's syndrome. 

He saved his money diligently for two years because he had his heart set on Lego's expensive Emerald Night Train set. So he could get a sense of financial responsibility, his parents told James that he had to save up the $100 needed for the train himself.

Jump ahead two years when James finally had all the money... only to find Lego had discontinued the model. His beloved Emerald Midnight Train was suddenly only available as a collectible item and priced far more than the $100 he had saved.

It was awful. The family got into some bidding wars on Ebay but always got outbid. Then Dawn Hartnett, a social worker who runs the Lego therapy sessions for autistic and Asperger's children that James attends, had an idea. She got James to write to Lego directly. James did and explained exactly what had happened.

Two days before his 11th birthday, a mysterious package addressed to James arrived. Inside the package was a letter from Lego and brand-new model of the train.
