Researchers say a tiny imaging chip could soon allow smartphones to see through walls. Two engineers at the California Institute of Technology have invented inexpensive silicon microchips that generate and radiate high-frequency electromagnetic waves called terahertz waves. Researchers say terahertz waves can easily penetrate various materials and gather high-resolution images of hidden objects, and they can even detect chemicals found in pharmaceutical drugs, biological weapons, illegal drugs or explosives.
