Beyonce put on a widely-acclaimed half-time show during the Super Bowl on Sunday (February 3rd), but the New York Post reported yesterday that there might not be any show at all between the halves of the NFL championship game next year because of the weather. The 2014 Super Bowl is being held at MetLife Stadium, home of the the New York Giants and Jets, which is an open-air arena, in New Jersey, in early February -- which means it's going to be cold, at the least. The Post cited sources as saying there's currently no plan for there to be a half-time show because NFL officials can't figure out how to stage one at what will be the first-ever outdoor, cold-weather Super Bowl. One source told the newspaper, "It's not only the acts and the singers, but the crews that have to put the stage together. You know, the assembly has to be done a certain way. It's choreographed and rehearsed so it can be assembled and disassembled as fast as possible. And you just can't assemble the stage and break it down fast enough in the cold." The planning official said, "There's no plan right now of what to do in [a halftime show's] place." Another source said the half-time show isn't the only worry, stating, "There are a thousand things we didn't think about" in regards to the cold. NFL chiefs, lawyers and TV executives are reportedly debating the protocols for what to do in the case of a weather emergency, like a heavy snowstorm.
