At the National Push-Pull Bench Press and Dead Lift Championships this weekend, 91-year-old Sy Perlis set the world record in the 90 and over weight class by lifting 187.5 pounds.
Sy is a World War II veteran who started lifting when he was 60. He had to sit out last year after having surgery to fix a hernia and implant a pacemaker, but came back stronger than ever.
Watch Sy break the world record:
General Motors is recalling nearly 200,000 mid-sze SUVs because the master power door and window module in the driver's door can short out and catch fire.
Because the risk is serious enough -- and can happen when the truck is not in use -- GM says owners should park the trucks outdoors until the module is repaired, according to documents posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The recall expands -- after talks with the NHTSA -- a GM recall last August of 249,260 of the same trucks, but only those sold or registered in 20 Snow Belt states where salt is used on the roads.
The recall covers the remaining 193,652 of the mechanically similar 2006 and 2007 SUVs sold under five nameplates:
• 2006-07 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Ruick Rainier, Saab 9-7x and Isuzu Ascender.
• 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL.
In the new action, GM also is recalling more than 38,000 of the trucks in use outside the U.S.
The problem is one that has prompted several recalls by multiple makers over the years -- moisture gets into the drivers door and corrodes the connections and electronics in the module that controls powers locks and all the power windows.
That can cause a short circuit and overheating, which can lead to an electrical melting smell, smoke from the door or, worst case, a fire. As of last August, GM knew of 28 incidents and no injuries. The documents did not specify the number of complaints or incidents.
You may or may not get a warning when the locks or windows work intermittently or not at all..
GM is notifying owners and dealers will check the module. If its working OK, they'll put a moisture protection coating on the electronics; if not, they'll replace it.

The concert will take place over the Fourth of July weekend -- July 6th at Oklahoma University's Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman. Also on board so far are Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. Proceeds will go to The United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund.
“I grew up in Moore [Okla.], I live in Norman and I’ve got lots of family and friends who were directly affected,” Keith says. “I know these folks and they’re resilient, but we’re going to keep helping them any way we can. I’m proud to get together with some others from around here who are just as committed as I am to supporting these communities.”
“Once we got the news that the tornado had hit Toby’s hometown, Miss Yearwood and I told Toby we were at his service for whatever he chose to do,” Brooks says. “I am amazed at the human spirit the tornado victims have shown. I am humbled by the giving of the volunteers. It is an honor to get to be a part of this healing process.”
Tickets, which will go for $25 regardless of the seat, go on sale on June 21st at 10:00 a.m.
