In 1987, two friends started buying lottery tickets together every week.  They've been doing it weekly for the past 25 years, and never won.

--Last month, one of the men, 74-year-old Willie McPherson of Manhattan, New York was buying their $40 worth of tickets at a coffee shop.  The coffee shop was running a promotion, and Willie ended up getting two free tickets with his purchase.

--As it's gone for the past 25 years, the tickets they bought didn't win.  But . . . one of the free tickets DID.

--Willie and his friend, 44-year-old Christopher Manzi of Morganville, New Jersey, won a $14 MILLION jackpot.  They're taking the lump sum.

--Christopher will get $3.5 MILLION after taxes.  Willie will get $3.3 MILLION because he lives in New York, not New Jersey, and they take more in taxes.
